Although gladiatorial games were banned in the West by the Emperor Honorius in AD 404, the sport did not immediately cease. Edicts were issued again and again to bad the games, but they continued for many years, sometimes in secret.

The Bandit King

Following Alaric the Goth across the Roman Empire

The ten novel series follows Alaric from his appearance as a bandit through his being made King of the Western Goths, then awarded the rank of general in the Roman Army.

The story that he sacked the city of Rome in AD 410 is an exaggeration. His army entered Rome to forcibly collect the wages withheld from him by the Emperor Honorius.
Denied his ancestral home by the invading Huns, He and his Goths spend years searching for a safer place for the Goths to settle.

Follow his career through the ten  novels.
